This looks OK, Joe. I kind of like the retro UI. Reminds me somehow of late-80's Space Invaders. ;-)

Testing to see if this is totally open, without membership. Wow, by totally open, you really mean it! I didn't even have to register for an account! Quite different from www.facebook.com/groups/BrooklineNewSchool/ which you can't even read (let alone post to) unless you've registered with Facebook and have signed in. Google should have no trouble crawling this forum, which is a plus. And people can easily link to conversations that take place here. It's no worse than Facebook in terms of data liberation, I imagine. I don't know that there's a way to export and back up all the posts out of either service.

Wow, Brookline could use this format for all kinds of community conversations - or we can be the testers and then determine if it works. I'm in if others are.

I just logged in but I registered since I didn't use FB or other accounts to enter. Wondering how much work it will be for you, Joe, to maintain two sites and am guessing that most people will find it easier to post on one (probably FB.) I assume there is no way to have hypertext links from one to the other?

Thought it was a good idea to join non fb conversation. Not at all clear how to post however. Just clicking reply to Christina's post and see if it works!
